Ok, so the numbers are a little manipulated here, but it works out to 19.3 times the energy consumption of an "average" American home. Of course, one would need to know what homes this "average" is based on (size and location) as well as that of Al Gore. But this doesn't change the fact that he is a total hypocrite.

IMO, it's stupid to anathemize him. There are thousands of other prominent figures that would deserve criticism more than he does. Let's be happy he's been doing what he's been doing , raising awareness and so forth, regardless of how much of an energy hog he is.
Integrity, especially in certain circles and at such a level of exposure, takes a certain very uncommon personality type.
